The County

Wappen des Powiat Bolesławiecki

The Powiat Bolesławiecki (Bolesławiec County) is located in the north-western part of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship (Province). This district is especially attractive to investors due to its favorable location in the regional communication system, the interconnection of the two freeways A4 and A18, the proximity to the neighboring countries of Gemany and the Czech Republic as well as the three special economic zones Legnica, Wałbrzych and Kamiennogórska. Furthermore, the region is famous for its century-old production of traditional pottery ‘Bunzlauer ware’. The district consists of six municipalities. They are all connected by the same mixture of traditions and customs of reemigrants amongst others from Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia, Macedonia, Belarus and the Ukraine. Numerous architectural memorials and the nature’s beauty of the Lower Silesian Forest are to be found among the attractions that await visitors in the region.

Powiat Bolesławiecki’s role in the project

Since 2001, the Powiat Bolesławiecki and the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis (Rhein-Sieg district) have been connected by a partnership between towns which fosters the cooperation between both districts.

The Powiat Bolesławiecki will hold activities of protect the climate in Polish schools. Therefore, school materials will be translated into Polish and provided directly to the schools. The traveling exhibition will also be presented in Poland. A version of the exhibition in Polish and English will be given to the sister district. The inauguration in Bolesławiecki is planned for 2013 and will be attended by representatives of the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis.
