Awareness-raising/Educational work

Drawing attention

In Germany and, later on, in Poland, the project draws attention to the correlation between climate change and poverty by using examples of four South American countries. We highlight the problems of climate change and its regional impact on poverty. The project partners in Chile and Peru are, for example, confronted with an increasing water shortage; the city of La Paz in Bolivia, in turn, fights against flooding and landslides because of intensive precipitations. The progressive deforestation of the Amazonian rainforest in Brazil has far-reaching consequences – on the global climate and on the local people. At the same time, we present innovative strategies to adapt to these changes which are being implemented in the different countries in order to counteract climate change on a local level and thus to alleviate poverty.

Dialogue and Networks

We believe that global problems require a global response. Therefore, we promote dialogue of the population and civil society in Germany and Poland with our South American partner institutions and support the formation of national and international networks for climate protection.
